Types of trauma treated
- - Fractures of the lower jaw (mandible) - fractures that can affect chewing, speech and mouth opening
- - Fractures of the upper jaw (maxilla) - injuries affecting the mid-face structure, often requiring surgical stabilisation
- - Fractures of the nasal bones - fractures of the nasal bones, often after direct impacts or accidents
- - Fractures of the cheekbones (zygoma) - injuries to the lateral part of the face that also affect facial aesthetics
- - Dento-alveolar trauma - injuries to the teeth and surrounding bone (displacement, fracture or loss of teeth)
- - Wounds and lacerations of the soft tissue of the face - cuts, tears or injuries to the skin and oral mucosa requiring surgical suturing
- - Complex facial trauma - combined injuries to several structures (bone and soft tissue) after severe accidents
Treatment of maxillofacial trauma requires urgent clinical and imaging assessment (CT, X-ray) to determine the treatment plan.

Are jaw or facial procedures painful?
The procedures are carried out under local or general anaesthesia, so there is no pain during the procedure itself. There may be swelling and temporary discomfort afterwards, which is controlled with medication.
How long does recovery take after maxillofacial surgery?
Recovery depends on the type of procedure. Minor procedures require a few days, while orthognathic surgery or fracture treatment may require several weeks to a full recovery.
Does it only improve aesthetics, or also the function of the jaw?
Maxillofacial surgery is not only aesthetic. It also improves key functions such as biting, speech and breathing, in addition to facial aesthetic harmony.
