What you need to know.

Fasting before the operation
Do not eat or drink for 6-8 hours before the operation, including water, chewing gum, sweets, coffee or cigarettes (unless your doctor has given you other instructions).
Medication
- Tell your doctor about any medication you take regularly
- If you take blood thinners (aspirin, clopidogrel, warfarin, heparin, rivaroxaban, apixaban, etc.) or other medication, discuss this with your doctor in advance - stopping or adjusting them may be necessary
- Do not stop taking any medication without consulting your doctor
Personal hygiene
- Shower the night before or on the morning of the operation
- Do not apply creams, body oils, make-up, perfume or deodorant on the day of the operation
Jewellery, clothing & personal belongings
- Remove all jewellery, piercings, watches and valuables before arriving at the hospital - the hospital is not liable for the loss of valuable personal items
- Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing
- Avoid artificial nails and manicures (especially dark colours), as advised by the medical team
Documentation - what to bring
- A form of identification
- The required tests or examinations
- A list of the medication you take
- Relevant medical records (if any)
In case of illness & arrival
If, before the operation, you develop a fever, cough, flu, infection, herpes or any change in your state of health, notify the hospital or your doctor immediately.
Please arrive at the scheduled time to complete the pre-operative preparation procedures.
Companion policy
- Only one companion is permitted
- In the pre- and post-operative areas, companion access may be restricted for safety reasons and medical standards
- In the case of general anaesthesia or sedation, the patient is advised not to leave alone and to have someone accompany them after the procedure
- A contact person is recommended for communication with the medical team throughout the process
What happens on the day of the operation.
Arrival & pre-operative preparation
- Reception registers your arrival
- A nurse accompanies you to the pre-operative room
- Final assessment with the anaesthesiologist
- Final preparation (sterile clothing, positioning)
What happens in the operating theatre
- Anaesthesia is administered
- The procedure is carried out according to the plan discussed
- All vital signs are monitored throughout the procedure
Immediate post-operative care
- You wake up in the recovery room
- Initial monitoring for 1-2 hours
- Transfer to your hospital room
Care after the operation.
Care at home
- Follow your doctor's instructions for medication and post-operative care carefully
- Rest and avoiding strenuous physical activity are essential for a swift recovery
- Keep the wound clean and dry
- Attend the check-ups scheduled after the procedure
Call immediately if you experience:
- A temperature above 38°C
- Sudden bleeding
- Pain that is not relieved by medication
- Redness, swelling or heat around the wound
- Shortness of breath or chest pain
Medical staff available 24/7 depending on the case.
Check-up visits
- First check-up: usually 7 days after
- Second check-up: 30 days after
- Further check-ups depending on the procedure
