What is blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty corrects tired or drooping eyelids through:
- ●The upper eyelid - removal of excess skin and fat that creates a "hooded" look above the eyes
- ●The lower eyelid - removal or repositioning of fat that creates "bags" under the eyes
It can be done on the upper lid alone, the lower lid alone, or both at the same time (more common in patients over 50). The modern transconjunctival technique (from inside the lower eyelid) leaves no visible scar.

Ophthalmological assessment
An eye examination to rule out issues that could affect recovery (dryness, glaucoma).
Anaesthesia
Local anaesthesia with sedation (the patient is conscious but relaxed) or general anaesthesia, depending on the case.
The procedure
Precise incisions along the natural eyelid folds. Removal of skin and fat. Fine sutures. Duration: 1-2 hours.
Post-operative care
No stay in the clinic. You may return to your hotel after 2-3 hours.

Swelling and bruising most noticeable around the eyes (usually 3-5 days). No make-up. Cold compresses for the first 48 hours.
Stitches removed on day 7. Swelling reduces significantly. You can go out in public wearing sunglasses.
Return to normal activity.
Close to a normal appearance. Any remaining swelling fades. Make-up is allowed.
Fully natural look within around 3 months (faster than most procedures).
