Aesthetic & Plastic Surgery · Chest (Male)

A flat, masculine-contoured chest.

Correction of enlarged breast tissue in men - a dedicated procedure carried out with complete discretion. Gynaecomastia is one of the most silent concerns among men. At Amavita it is treated with complete discretion and a specialised team.

What it is

Gynaecomastia.

Gynaecomastia is an enlargement of breast tissue in men caused by fatty tissue (pseudo-gynaecomastia), glandular tissue (true gynaecomastia), or a combination of both (the most common form).

Causes: hormonal, genetic, post-puberty, use of anabolic steroids, being overweight, use of certain medications.

The procedure selects the technique according to the type:

  • Liposuction only for pseudo-gynaecomastia
  • Surgical removal for glandular tissue (through a periareolar incision)
  • Combined techniques for most cases
How it is done

Frequently asked questions

The questions we are asked most often.

Liposuction only or with surgical removal?
It depends on the type of gynaecomastia. A manual assessment determines this: if it is fat, liposuction; if it is glandular tissue, removal is required.
Will it come back?
No, if the underlying cause is treated (steroids, weight). Surgical removal of glandular tissue is permanent.
Can it be done after steroid use?
Yes, but steroids must be stopped before the procedure - otherwise the gynaecomastia may return.
Will there be a visible scar?
No. The incision is made at the edge of the nipple (areola) - a very discreet scar.
How discreet is the procedure?
Completely. Your medical file is confidential in line with medical standards. Nothing is published without consent.
Is a hormonal assessment needed beforehand?
It is recommended, to rule out hormonal causes that can be treated with medication before the surgery.
